Alvin (Bud) Hancock, 89, of Garrison, Texas passed away on November 14, 2023
Bud was born December 23,1933 in the Rose Hill Community of Timpson, Texas. He was the fifth child of eight born to Carlos Grant and Mattie Lucille Dorsey Hancock. He married Betty Jean Alexander in 1953 and they were blessed with 70 years together.
Bud was an ordained minister and pastored churches in the local East Texas area. His ministry also included being a radio announcer hosting country gospel programs for twenty-eight years. He loved sharing the Gospel in song with his followers and listeners.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Betty of Garrison, children Sheila Head and husband Franklin of Garrison, TX, Rhonda Hearnsberger and husband Tracy of Garrison, TX, Melinda Colby and husband Mike of Garrison, TX, and Kent Hancock and wife Sharon of Corcoran, MN. He is also survived by grandchildren Nathaniel Head and wife Katie of Austin, TX, Natalie Head of Garrison, TX, Nicole Head of Garrison, TX, Lacy Bartlett and husband Aaron of Austin, TX, Kaley Hearnsberger-Murhula and husband Sedrick of Lexington, KY, Brady Colby and wife Presley of Red Oak, TX, Will Hancock, Zac Hancock, and Sam Hancock of Corcoran, MN. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Evelyn Head, James Head, Avery Bartlett, Isaac Bartlett, Justice Murhula, Isabella Murhula, and Hollis Colby. He was dearly loved by his family.
Bud is also survived by brothers, Charles Hancock, James Hancock, and George Hancock and sisters, Frances Williams, and Patricia Pratt.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by granddaughter Hayley Hancock, grandsons Karsten Hancock and Seth Hancock. He is also preceded in death by brother, Calvin, and sister, Tommie Jean.
A Celebration of Life will be at Arlam Baptist Church, Garrison, Tx. on Saturday, December 2. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM with service to follow at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.http:// help.ifcj.org
