A loving and beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend—Christine Delores Parker Montgomery quietly passed into the peaceful presence of her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2020.
Chris was born on October 1, 1946 in Hartsville, South Carolina, to Muldrow Davis and Floella Johnson Parker. She was the second of 4 children. She married her high school sweetheart, Clarence Eugene “Gene” Montgomery on July 25, 1962 in Littleton, Colorado. Chris was the mother of 4 children—Randall Eugene, Velvet Wendy, Laura Sandy & Christopher Robin. On February 23, 1985, together with their children, they were sealed as an eternal family in the Dallas Texas Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Raised by loving parents in a Christian home, from early in her life Chris had a strong belief in Jesus. She was particularly fond of the song from her childhood, “Jesus Loves Me”—a distinct truth she clung to her entire life. In 1973, while raising their young family in Arizona, Chris & Gene were introduced to and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Chris was a sincere follower of her savior, Jesus Christ. She showed her love and devotion to Him through her desire to serve, support, teach, and encourage her family. Having experienced the loss of several beloved family members—including dear sweet grandchildren—she believed with all her heart that “Families are Forever”.
Chris had a gifted passion for animals—her passion leading her into a successful hobby of breeding, showing, grooming, and boarding a variety of dog breeds. She was affectionately called a “dog whisperer.” She would have most any dog enthusiastically and lovingly approach her when she was around—and she returned the enthusiasm in equal measure. Throughout her adult life, Chris had an creative and entrepreneurial spirit. She started and operated a variety of small businesses—many of which were born from her passion for animals. At the age of 47, she decided to become a nurse. While undergoing chemo-therapy and surgical treatment for breast-cancer, she graduated in 1994, as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked in the health care industry until her retirement.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was openly grateful for the blessings of family in her life. Remaining behind is her eternal companion, Gene Montgomery; three children (spouses)—Randy (Lark) Montgomery, Velvet (Bruce) Bookout, and Laura (Michael) Flood; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; her brothers Mark (Carol) Parker, and Bryon (Lupe) Parker; and many other extended family members. She was preceded in passing through the veil by her parents, Muldrow & Floella Parker; her sister, Sharon Jones; her son, Christopher Montgomery; her grandchildren—Hayley, Asa, & Atticus Bookout; and her mother and father in law, Clarence & Juanita Montogmery.
The family wishes to extend its sincere love and appreciation to service provided by the Tyler First Ward, The Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County, Heritage Home Hospice, and her sweet ministers, and aides.
