August 21, 1945  —  December 24, 2022

A loving and beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend—Clarence Eugene Montgomery quietly passed, after an extensive struggle with Parkinson’s disease, into the peaceful presence of his Heavenly Father on December 24, 2022, in Kaysville, Utah.

Gene was born on August 21, 1945 in Glendale, Arizona, to Clarence Ethen and Juanita Richardson Montgomery.  He was the oldest of 3 children.  He married his high school sweetheart, Christine Delores Montgomery on July 25, 1962 in Littleton, Colorado.  Gene was the father of 4 children—Randall Eugene, Velvet Wendy, Laura Sandy & Christopher Robin.  They raised their family in various parts of the country—Colorado, South Carolina, Arizona, and Texas, where Gene and Chris finally settled. 

Gene began working for his father-in-law as a carpenter, in Colorado.  A mechanical “genius”, Gene found interest in automobile transmissions—he had a gift.  This abundant and successful career path was fortified early.  He shared the memory of one of his early introductions to tearing down and rebuilding transmissions, where he recalled outpacing mutually novice colleagues more than 6 to 1--doing more transmissions in one day than they had done in a week.  This talented gift served he and his family well for several decades.  Throughout his career, it was not uncommon for shop owners and their mechanics around the country to call him for help and advice with particularly challenging transmission jobs.  He was a founding owner of Noonday Transmission, in Noonday, Texas, where his son and partner has carried on the work of his father. 

In 1973, while raising their young family in Arizona, Gene & Chris were introduced to and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Gene was a devoted believer and follower of his Savior, Jesus Christ.  He showed his love and devotion to Him, through his gentle quiet loving service to his family and others.  Gene was a loving tender-hearted husband, father, and grandfather who gave of anything he had to make life comfortable for others—family or stranger.  His grandchildren have fond memories of his generously “epic” trips to Toys-R-Us, a never empty candy jar, a freezer full of Bluebell ice cream, and always time to play a video game or two.  He lovingly and tenderly cared for his sweetheart until her passing in December of 2020.  He loved his family more than anything in life.  Having experienced the loss of several beloved family members—including dear sweet grandchildren—he and Chris knew with all their hearts that “Families are Forever.”

Remaining behind are his three children (spouses)—Randy (Lark) Montgomery, Velvet (Bruce) Bookout, and Laura (Michael) Flood; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister Vangie Carmean; and many other extended family members.  He was preceded in passing through the veil by his parents, Clarence Ethen & Juanita Richardson Montgomery; his wife, Christine Delores Parker Montgomery; his brother, Danny Dale Montgomery; his son, Christopher Robin Montgomery; his grandchildren—Amanda Hayley, Asa Carney, & Atticus Chester Bookout; and his father and mother in law, Muldrow Davis & Floella Johnson Parker. 

The family wishes to extend its sincere love and appreciation for service provided by The Caregivers Support Network, Inspiration Home Health and Hospice, The Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation, and others that cared for and made his life fulfilling and comfortable these past several months.  Special thanks to Lindquist Mortuary in Utah, for their careful consideration and preparation leading up to the funeral services in Texas, and to Boren-Conner Funeral Home for their assistance with his memorial and interment.

A viewing and memorial service in Gene’s honor will be held on Wednesday, January 4,^, 2023, at the Boren-Conner Funeral Home, 550 South Dr. M. Roper Parkway, Bullard, Texas.  The viewing will be held from 1:00 - 1:45 pm, followed by the memorial service at 2:00 pm.  Interment will be in the Bullard Cemetery, adjacent to the funeral home, immediately following the service.
