Darrell Ray Holidy, 87, of Henderson, TX, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones, on December 16th, 2024.
Ray was born in Robertson County on January 18th, 1937. He was the only son of Verda and John Holidy. He was predeceased by his parents and twin sisters. He moved to Houston at an early age with his family. He graduated in 1955 from John H. Reagan High School, where he was a star football player. His first employer was Harold's Men's Store, where he worked as a model.
Ray was saved and baptized as a teenager at the Heights Baptist Church, where he was a member. He proudly served in the Air National Guard and was a dedicated associate member of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas. An avid sports fan, Ray enjoyed following his favorite teams and sharing his love of the game with family and friends.
Ray retired from the Houston Police Department after serving 28 years. He had been a resident of Henderson, Texas, since 1982.
He is survived by his wife Daphne, sons Greg and Marcus, daughters Priscilla and Heather (Tony), grandsons Gregory and Paul, granddaughters Hannah, Holly, and Montanna, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held December 30th at 10 AM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Highway 323, Overton, TX.
