David Ronald Goodson, Sr., “Ronnie”, 77, of Brownsboro, was born on February 14, 1947, to the late James Lewis, Sr. and Anna Belle Flora Goodson, and left this earth to join his Heavenly Father on January 13, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was a genuine, hard-working, and loving husband, dad, PawPaw, and brother. After working in multiple sectors of law enforcement for the majority of his career, Ronnie worked for the City of Brownsboro for the past 11 years. He enjoyed tending chickens, talking about “the good ole” days, and spending time with those he loved. Ronnie was a gentle giant who made everyone feel special and loved. He freely gave big bear hugs accompanied by his mischievous smile and soft, kind eyes. Ronnie was a man of few words, but what he did say was worth hearing! It might be a witty saying, sage advice, words of encouragement, or a funny story. He was quiet and soft-spoken but had a big presence. He was honest and always willing to help a friend or someone in need. If you knew Ronnie Goodson, you knew a great man who will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Mary Foster Goodson, son David and wife Lana of Tyler, son Eric and wife Molly of Hideaway, son Justin and wife Linsy of Katy, granddaughter Kara and husband Matt of Plano, grandson Cole and wife Lindsay of Tyler, grandson Mason and granddaughter Ella of Hideaway, grandsons Aaron and Dylan of Katy, and a great-granddaughter, Blair, due in April. Ronnie is also survived by his brother Pokey and wife Dorothy, sister Norma and husband Gary, brother Dwain and wife Pam, brother Glen and wife Vicki, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ronnie was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his parents, James Sr. and Anna Goodson, sister Melba McCarty, brother James Lewis Goodson, Jr., sister Mary Louise Horton, and brother Pat Goodson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Glen Goodson and Pastor Dwain Goodson officiating.
