Earnest D. Ward went home to be with Jesus on April 10,2024. Although he is no longer with us here on the earth we rejoice in knowing he is in the arms of our Lord and Saviour.
Earnest was born in Waco, Texas on December 4, 1942 to V.C. and Virginia Ward. He grew up in Mt. Calm, Texas with his grandparents W.D. and Della Jones along with his Aunt Florence Jones. There he met the love of his life and wife of 61 years Carol Sue Ward. They were married on December 22, 1962 in Mt. Calm, Texas.
He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1965 and then went to work at General Tire and Rubber in Waco, TX. He later went to work at Dallas Times Herald and Dallas Morning News as a manager of distribution of newspapers. He retired there in 2007 and moved to the Tyler area where he lived until his passing.
His greatest joy was being a loving husband to his wife Carol, a devoted father to three children Kevin Ward, Lisa McLane and Chris Ward, a father-in-law to Tammie, Brad, and Heather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, Nathan Ward, Jonathan Ward, Faith Brown, USAF Jacob McLane, Rebecca Ward, Dylan Ward along with three great-grandchildren, Canon, Hudson and Harrison. He is also survived by a brother Donnie Ward.
He is preceded in death by his parents, V.C. and Virginia Ward, grandparents W.D. and Della Jones, and Cam and Eula Ward, as well as Aunt Florence Jones along with many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on May 4, 2024 beginning at 10:00 am at Cornerstone Assembly of God in Tyler. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cornerstone Assembly of God Youth Camp Foundation at https://tinyurl.com/WardCamp2024.
