Frank Leslie Saye January 26, 1944 – March 09, 2020

Frank was born in Houston, Texas on January 26, 1944. He left this world on March 09, 2020 at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evangalan Mixon Saye, his parents, and a number of siblings. He is survived by his children and grandchildren Frank Jr. and Dawn Saye, Ronnie and Valerie Saye and their daughters Madelynn and Macie, Rodney and Barbara Saye and their son Kevin, Clayton and Terri Grossman and their daughters Aspyn and Berlyn, and Britain and Bryan McKinney and their children Drifter, Jagger and Journey.

Frank was the youngest son of John Richard and Mary Alice (Hefley) Saye. He grew up on the north side of Houston with 5 brothers and one sister in a little house on Berry Road. Frank graduated from Sam Houston High School where he played football.

After high school, Frank went into the construction business along with most of the male members of his family.  Frank built a successful business over the years and in the process created many opportunities for others. He had an indomitable spirit. Frank was a man of many talents and could do or fix almost anything.

Frank loved his wife, Evangalan, who had an inspiring creativity and would often come up with wild ideas. He would do anything for her and would find a way to bring them to life. She told him she wanted a castle and he built her one. It included spectacular stair rails made from trees he cut from the very property the castle sits on. Their castle has now been witness to hundreds of couples on their wedding day and continues to spark joy.

Frank was an enthusiastic sports fan. This included little league and pee wee sports. When he was coaching, he could often be “heard” on the sidelines of the boy’s games. Occasionally, his “passion” for sports would find him watching their games from the parking lot. Frank had compassion for kids and found himself being the “dad” for many of them.

Frank loved his children and grandchildren. They called him Big Dad. He loved his family and friends and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who asked. He was a big gentle soul with a charismatic and infectious smile. He was loved.

In the past decade of his life, he defied all medical odds. He was a marvel of medical science. In and out of the hospital with doctor’s not knowing what to make of him and his determination to live. He was a strong man.
