Gaylon L. White, 81, of Whitehouse TX passed away April 26, 2023. He was born June 17, 1941 in Jacksonville, TX, the son of Carlton White and Onie Wooten White. He was preceded in death by both his parents, brother, Bobbie White and sister, Margie Huttash.
Gaylon, a retired pastor, was a student of MidAmerican Nazarene University and an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. Throughout his ministry of nearly 30 years, he pastored churches in Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. He loved gospel music, tropical fish, and computers. Gaylon was a living example of someone who endured unusual hardships but continued to preach the Gospel regardless of what life threw at him.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie White, daughters, Rebecca Jones and Debra White Smith (Daniel), two grandchildren, Brett Smith (Jessica) and Brooke Smith, and sister, Marilyn Buchanan, as well as nephew Scott Buchanan (Patti), nieces Leann Huttash and Jennifer Aguilar, and five great nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, May 1, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 at Boren Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville, TX.
A graveside celebration of Gaylon’s life will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Resthaven Cemetery, Jacksonville, TX with Rev. Don Gardner officiating.
