George Weldon Banks, who was born on August 9, 1961, to Albert George Banks Jr. of Llano, Texas, and Geneva Jo Ann (Gorem) Banks of Kosse, Texas, passed away on June 15, 2024, in Kemp, Texas. He was surrounded by his three daughters when he ascended to Heaven to be with his Lord.

George grew up in the Groesbeck and Llano areas. At a very young age, his dad taught him three guitar chords, and with that, he took off to become an incredibly talented guitarist. His sister fondly remembers how he sat down at a piano, tinkered with it for a few minutes, and effortlessly played the song 'Blueberry Hill,' having never had any formal lessons. George had a gift for playing any instrument he laid his hands on, making him a true musical prodigy. In his early years, he recorded songs and received offers from Nashville to purchase his music. He went on to form a band at age 17 named Nasty Habits, and their show featured a segment called 'Stump the Band,' where the audience would request songs, and if the band couldn't play them, they would receive a free beer. However, the band never had to buy anyone a drink as they knew every song. He had an amazing voice and loved to sing and play the guitar at family gatherings. George also played at church as well as to the residents at the nursing home in Groesbeck. He also spent some time as a Boy Scout, enjoyed fishing, and had a passion for gardening, possessing an unparalleled green thumb. George worked as a certified electrician for many years and was an exceptional cook, able to whip up a delicious meal out of nothing.

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Albert Banks and JoAnn Banks, and by his brother, Albert "Bert" Garland Banks.

He is survived by his daughters and their families, Heather Wilkinson and her husband Brett Wilkinson, Candy Howie and her husband Mike Howie, and Brandy Banks; step-daughter Crystal Thorp; step-son Brent Thorp, and by his grandchildren, Kanaalaq and Alayna along with several step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Laurinda "Laurie" (Banks) Bates and husband Ronnie Bates and her children, Brian Newcomb and wife Amber Newcomb, Michael Newcomb and wife Ellie Newcomb, and Christina Sanders and husband Allen Sanders; by his stepmother Linda Banks; stepsisters Misty Bell and Linda Graleski; stepbrother Earl Buchanan; along with several other nieces and nephews.

George had a deep love for our Lord, Jesus Christ, and is now rejoicing with Him in Heaven.
