James Earle Stewart passed at 8:46 pm on Sunday, Aug 29th at UT Health, Jacksonville, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Marie Stewart, and daughter, Jeanna Marie Nichols of Birmingham, AL. Jamey was survived by 3 sons: James Earle Stewart Jr. of Spokane, WA, Jeffery Charles Stewart of Portland, OR, and Joseph Samuel Stewart of LaHarpe, IL. He was also survived by 9 grandchildren.
Jamey Stewart was born on May 27th, 1934 in Doucett, TX to Herbert and Jesse (Reed) Stewart. Jamey served in the USAF during the Korean conflict. On December 29th, 1956 Jamey married Alice Marie Lusk. He graduation from Stephen F Austin University with a degree in Forestry and spent his career with the US Forest Service in Arkansas, Oregon, and Washington. Upon retirement from the Forest Service in 1989 Jamey expanded his beekeeping hobby to a full time business with up to 600 hives. When he retired from the beekeeping business he spent his remaining years caring for his wife and working on his house. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and loved the fellowship and men’s Bible study.
A memorial service in James Stewart’s honor will be held in the small chapel at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville, TX on Oct 3rd, 2 pm. A luncheon will follow after the service and all are welcome.
