James Edward Simmons
February 19, 1931 – August 18, 2020
James Edward Simmons, 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Jacksonville, Texas.
James was born in Nacogdoches, Texas to William Jackson Simmons and Mattie Lee Briley Simmons on the 19th day of February, 1931. Mr. Simmons graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1949 and had multiple careers throughout his lifetime: US Army private, farmer, salesman, sales management, master carpenter and builder. He was a lifelong resident of Texas and lived in Frankston the past 30+ years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mattie Simmons, his brothers John, Ray, and Joel and his sister Louise.
Mr. Simmons is survived by his children: James (Jim) Simmons Jr., William (Bill) Simmons and his wife Barbara, David Simmons and his wife Victoria, Kathey Simmons Pritchard, Cynthia Simmons, and Sue Simmons. He is also survived by his brother, Karl Simmons, his sisters Juanita Bird, Faye Smith, Jackie Mudd, and Lynda Glynn and his grandchildren, Joy, Leah, Tanya, Tony, David Jr., Kimberly, Brendon, Kelly, Leslie, Jonathan, and Danielle. Other survivors include his great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved pets.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, in Frankston, Texas. Details TBD.
