James Edward Wheeler passed away on April 2, 2024 at the Bradford House in Gilmer, TX after battling COPD for many years. James was born on January 24, 1956 to Mary Bertha Seale and Chuck Wheeler in Thibodaux, LA. He married Joyce Ann (Smith) Wheeler in March 2009 and enjoyed many years with her before her death in February 2021. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife, and nephew Joshuah Davis.
James was happiest when he was outdoors and was a skilled hunter and fisher. His family considered him a mountain man and was confident he could survive off the land. He was a mountain man who loved camping and dreamed of owning a cabin in woods. James was also a skilled artist. His incredible drawings were displayed at the Bradford House and left visitors in awe of his beautiful work. In his early years, he crafted knives, swords, and medieval armor and canons. He had a love for guns and his knowledge impressed many. His nephews lovingly called referred to him as Uncle Boot and his close friends and family called him Eddy. James will be deeply missed by his brother Alton Davis, Jr. (Nancy Hall), nephews Brandon Davis (Katy) and Nicholas Davis, his aunt Charlene Cowley, cousins Gary Crowley, Mary Cowley Norman, Andy Coppedge, and Bill Coppedge, and his friends at the Bradford House.
James’ service will be on Saturday April 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Bradford House in Gilmer, TX.
