Jeremy Kenneth Smith

Jeremy Kenneth Smith passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the age of 46. He was born July 4, 1976 in Portsmouth, Virgina and grew up exploring the Georgia woods surrounding his home. He moved to East Texas in 1990 and graduated Troup High School in 1994. Jeremy was in Boy Scouts where he attained the rank of Boy Scout First Class. He also became proficient in Tae-Kwon-Do, earning a 3rd degree red belt. He competed in tournaments and even won a few. Jeremy developed a lifelong love for all things electronic, starting with the Intellivision. Later, he and his Mom got a second hand TRS80 and learned to play games through simple programming. As his knowledge grew he became the ”guru” that everyone went to when they couldn't solve a computer issue.

After college, he lived a short time in Pheonix, Arizona and Brandon, Mississippi. In 2007, Jeremy moved to Statesville, North Carolina, where he and Andrea were married on October 31, and they began raising their two daughters. The family moved to Whitehouse, Texas during the summer of 2018. He worked 5 years with Apple as a Senior Advisor, and found his professional home with John Soules Foods January of 2020 as a Senior IT Analyst.

Jeremy’s brain never stopped. Whether it was working in I.T., reading The Wheel of Time series (again!), or world-building for his weekly “Dungeons and Dragons” gaming group. He used his favorite shows and movies like Firefly and Star Wars as inspiration for his own creations. His quiet and unassuming manner hid the depths within. He could breathe whole universes to life in the game for his family and friends.

Jeremy was kind, loving and attentive while possessing a quiet strength. He is survived by his wife of almost 15 years, Andrea, and their daughters, Courtney and Zoey; his Mother and Dad, Terri (Mathis) and Gordon Gragson; father Ron Smith, sister Diane Moessner, brothers Issac Burkhalter, Eric and Brandon Smith; Uncle Rodney Mathis and his wife Linn; grandfather Lowell Smith, and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Ryan Lovette.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his beloved cousin Kelbi Mathis; step father Larry Renfroe, grandparents Kenneth and Shirley Mathis; grandmother Jolene Smith, uncle David Mathis, and nephew Ethan Wayne.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 10:00 a.m. at Boren-Conner Funeral Home.
