John Steven Huddleston, 75, entered eternal rest on March 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of
love, laughter, and devotion. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-
grandfather whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him. Born in Houston, Texas,
John was a devout Catholic who found comfort and strength in his steady belief, which sustained
him throughout his journey.
He spent much of his life as a hard-working dairy farmer, tending to the family’s land and milk
business with pride. Upon retiring from farming, John embraced the adventure of becoming a long-
haul truck driver, transporting goods and commodities across vast distances for our communities.
John’s passion for life extended beyond the farm and open road, however. A man of simple
pleasures, John was also a lover of the Old West and found comfort in the timeless tales of
Gunsmoke and The Rifleman. If he really enjoyed a particular episode, he would often loudly
proclaim in front of his family, “Whhaaaaaaaaat a program!”
John was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Aurora
Huddleston of Tyler, Texas, and a cherished father to his children, Valerie June Thurman and Scott
Thurman of Terrell, Texas, and John Steven Huddleston and Kelly Erin Huddleston of Tyler, Texas. He
leaves behind nine grandchildren, Austin Blake Thurman and fiancée Sarah Ashworth of
Nacogdoches, Texas; Briana Alece Jansky and husband Daniel Jansky; Brandon Matthew
Huddleston; Brittany Amber Huddleston and her partner Hugo Palacios; Destiny Argentina
Bradshaw; and Harper Grace Huddleston. And two great grandchildren, Benjamin James Thurman
and Lyla Burke. John has two surviving siblings, his sister Linde Stallings of Bryan, Texas and brother
George D. Huddleston, Jr. in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
John’s love knew no bounds, and he delighted in spoiling his grandchildren and great-
grandchildren, letting them get away with anything and everything. His playful spirit brought joy and
laughter to their lives, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
John’s legacy of love and faith will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched. Though
he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew
and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, at 6:00-8:00 pm, with Rosary at 6:30 pm, at Boren-
Conner Funeral Home, 550 S Dr M Roper Parkway in Bullard, Texas.
A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held at The Cathedral of the Immaculate
Conception, 432 S. Broadway Avenue in Tyler, Texas on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 1:30 pm,
followed by interment at Bullard Memorial Cemetery, located behind Boren-Conner funeral home in
Bullard, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 410
South College Ave, Tyler, Texas 75702.
Rest in peace, dear John. Your laughter, love, and warmth will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
With love,
The Huddleston Family
