It is with a deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Michael Bedford, our beloved and devoted husband, father, and friend.
Kevin was born A long time ago, April 29, 1966 in a galaxy not so far away.....in Dallas, Tx. on the 29th of April, 1966, he left us way too soon after a two year gallant journey with bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) on November 1, 2023. He was a beacon of wit, thoughtfulness, and humor, always ready with a quick joke to lighten the mood. His passing leaves a void that will be impossible to fill.
Kevin is survived by, his favorite wife, Gilly Hitt Bedford, and their perfect teenage sons, Wilson Hitt and Laird Michael Bedford. He is also survived by his father Laurence O'Donnell Bedford and wife Wanda. He will also be dearly missed by his maternal aunt Carolyn Duke Mudford and cousins Nick and Neely Duke. Other relatives include mother in Law Polly Hitt, brother in law Gavin Hitt, sister in law Bevin Hitt Anacker and husband Craig.
He was predeceased by his mother, Marilyn Ann Bedford, whose memory he cherished and always carried with him, as well as his maternal uncle Bruce Muller, and several paternal aunts and uncles.
A graduate of Lake Highlands High School, Dallas, TX, in 1984, Kevin furthered his studies by earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas, in 1990. This paved the path for a couple of different long careers. Including an almost 30 year career with Blockbuster video which lasted longer than the VHS tapes they rented out.
An enthusiast of Mexican cuisine, Kevin enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends. A huge movie buff, he also enjoyed watching many, many movies with our boys, creating memorable moments that they will cherish forever. Kevin also always looked forward to his annual camping trip every fall with his lifelong youth group buddies.
Kevin always had a do or do not, there is no try attitude. Among Kevin's accomplishments, was his amazing arm. He loved playing softball and he held a particular fondness for playful activities like water balloon fights, always seizing every chance he got. This jovial spirit is part of what made Kevin so uniquely special, and it’s these memories that we and his friends will always hold dear.
While Kevin's departure brings immense grief, we look forward to a reunion in the future. Until then, his memory will live on within the hearts of those who loved and cherished him. His absence will be deeply felt, but the joy he brought into our lives will never be forgotten. He'll always be with us.
A memorial service to celebrate Kevin's life will be held on November 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at Boren-Conner funeral home in Bullard with Pastor Jason Harris of Palestine officiating.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made in Kevin's honor to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
