Lance Edward Miller, 56, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024. Lance was born in San Antonio, Texas, on February 9, 1968. Lance made the DFW area his home, where he and Christine Dobbs met and married. They welcomed the joy of their lives, son Brandon Philip Miller in 2000. Lance was a proud father who celebrated Brandon’s joys and successes. Lance loved spending time with Brandon at the family lake house in Jacksonville, where they would ride jet skis and watch (and sometimes recite line-by-line) movies together.
Lance was a curious, lively boy and excelled in school. He was on the swimming, tennis, and soccer teams. He developed a lifelong passion for motorcycles and especially enjoyed dirt bikes with his stepdad, Phil, his uncle Ron and cousins, JD and Jason. They had their own “gang” named the Dirty Half Dozen who shared many motorcycle adventures. He loved music and going to concerts like ZZ Top, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Journey. Being with friends and family was most important to him. He was kind and generous.
After graduating from Richardson High School, Lance attended the University of North Texas then completed a bachelor’s degree in marketing at Texas State University. Lance worked in the audio-visual industry. He recently moved to Jacksonville, Texas, to be close to his parents.
He is survived by his beloved son, Brandon Philip Miller; his co-parent and former wife, Christine Miller; his mother and stepfather, Marlene and Phil Jowell; his father, Stephen Miller; his sister, Elizabeth (Jeff) Watson; his three nephews, Adam, Samuel, and Harrison; and loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was blessed with a wonderful extended family, Fred and Liz Dobbs. Lance will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. Rest in peace, Lance.
