Larry Hampton Mosley went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2020.  During his battle with cancer this past year, he was always positive and looking for the next possible medical answer.  This was not because he feared death, but because he cherished the blessing of family, friends, and home.  When anyone sympathized with his condition, he was quick to state that he was blessed and that there were others who were much worse off than him.  He will be incredibly missed by those who loved him.

Larry (Roho, Papaw) was born June 26, 1941 in Dublin, Erath County, Texas to Charlie Mosley and Mildred Wilson Mosley.  He was the third of eight children.  He spent his early years in Baird, TX and Clyde, TX, moving to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in his early adult years.  During this time, he met his future wife, the love of his life. 

Larry moved to East Texas in 1977 when he began working for Mobley Co. in Kilgore.  After Asplundh bought the railroad vegetation control division of Mobley, Larry continued that work until his retirement from Asplundh in 2007.  In his work, he traveled throughout the majority of the US, developing lifelong friendships along the way.

Larry married Nancy Phillips Mosley on December 8, 1978.  They were blessed with 41 years filled with love and joy.  Every meal was a banquet and every day was a new adventure. 

In 1979, Larry was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church.  He served the Lord in many capacities, but excelled in demonstrating the love of Christ to all he met.  He was active in preparing and serving meals for the Baptist Student Ministries at TJC and UT Tyler.  He was also active in serving breakfast to the Chapel Hill High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He served his community as an active member of the Chapel Hill Volunteer Fire Department.  In recent years, he continued to support the department as a member of the Council Committee.

Larry’s friends, family, and church family were very important to him; he will be missed for his smile and the love he brought to every gathering.  Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his wife, Nancy; his children Donald Mosley and wife, Laurie of Waxahachie; Dana Frost of Tyler and children Mykel and Mikayla; Diana Stabler and husband Jimmy of Ft. Worth, their children Cynthia and Patrick; Melissa Arnette and husband Curt of Austin, their children Haley and Jackson and James Wilson and wife Missy of Bullard, their children Jake and Zoe Wilson, Whitney, Emily, and Molly Duncan.  His remaining siblings are Ed Mosley of Ft, Worth, Margaret Ochs of Olney, and C.J. (Buddy) Mosley of Queen City.

A celebration of life and memorial is planned for a later date, when we can safely gather again.
