Linda Sue Mays, 64, of Rusk, Texas, passed away in a Tyler hospital on January 28, 2024. Linda was born on June 3, 1959, in Jacksonville, Texas, to the late Abe S. Allen and Bettie Jane Allen (Wharton). She was preceded in death by her baby brother, Michael, and her beloved husband, Richard Mays.
Linda was a devoted mother to her two children, Krystina Mays and Eric Mays. She was also a proud grandmother to her grandson, Ethan Mays. Linda cherished her family and friends, and had a special place in her heart for her fur babies. She dedicated many years of her life as a newspaper delivery driver for the Daily Progress before transitioning to work in the school cafeteria for JISD, where she remained for many years.
Linda will be deeply missed by her surviving family, including her daughter Krystina Mays and fiancé Marcello Mena of Troup, TX; her son Eric Mays of Jacksonville, TX; her daughter-in-law Krystine Free of Rusk, TX; and her grandson Ethan Mays of Troup, TX. She also leaves behind numerous sister in laws, nieces/nephews and friends who will cherish her memory.
A memorial service to honor Linda's life will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Earles Chapel Methodist Church in Jacksonville, TX. This will be a time for family, friends, and loved ones to come together and celebrate the beautiful life that Linda lived.
