Martha Jo Tomlinson (Gagie)
6/21/1942-7/27/2024
Gagie attended Noonday school; she actually rode her horse to school and tied the horse to the post until school was done! She then attended and graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1960. She worked in sales most of her life including Watson Brick and insurance sales. Her last and most treasured work family is Galyean Building Solutions where she was so loved and appreciated by everyone there. At 82 years old she worked half a day every week and was very proud of it!!
Gagie was a true giver in every sense of the word. She dedicated her time to various organizations such as Kiwanis, Noonday United Methodist Church, The Noonday Onion Festival, and The Christmas Elf Association for children in need in Smith County.
Our sweet Gagie RAN into those Golden Gates with WIDE OPEN ARMS! We know she was taken into her Heavenly Father’s Arms with a healthy and strong body!!! We also KNOW that the reunion of her & Bobby was a precious and blessed sight to behold!!
She was surrounded by her family & loved ones when she took her last breath! We were all holding hands over her saying our sweet “till we meet agains” & praying over her precious self.
If you had the pleasure of knowing Gagie, you would have experienced the love she generously, openly, and passionately shared with everyone around her. Whether she was cheering on her grandbabies and EVERY contestant at rodeos or striking up conversations with strangers who would end up feeling like family, she brought a vibrant and joyful presence to everything she did.
We are grateful for all the prayers and kind messages we have received in the past few days. Each one was read and appreciated!
Gagie is now reunited with her parents Harvey and Vinnie Tomlinson, her brother-in-law and sister Marion and Marcia Carruthers, her brother James Tomlinson, and her nephew Billy Jack Barham. By far the most difficult was when Gagie lost her beloved son Bobby Glaspie 38 years ago.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carter and Jodie Elliott, her grandchildren Alex and Morgan Gavin, Austin and Sheyenne Elliott, Cole and Lara Wheeler, and her great-grandchildren West Gavin, Goldie Gavin, Cannon Elliott, and Baby Elliott Wheeler. Gagie’s “other” daughter and her husband Rhonda and Mark McBride. Her Brother and sister-in-law Larry and Beverly Tomlinson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her granddaughter Brooke Johnston.
This part about her surviving loved ones is particularly tough because if you knew Gagie, you would have felt the immense, uncontainable, and raw love she had for "her people"! She loved with all her heart!
God bless Gagie…cause He sure blessed us with HER!
