Mary Anne Burgi Tessaro, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on December 29, 2024, at the age of 84. She was the beloved wife of John J. Tessaro Jr., with whom she shared 51 years of love and companionship.
Mary Anne’s legacy lives on through her five children: Michael Tessaro and his wife Pat, Michelle Tessaro, Toni Tessaro Keith and her husband Larry, Don Broseman and his wife Robin, and Lynne Mary Tessaro Thompson and her husband Sam. She was also a devoted grandmother to 13 grandchildren, with numerous spouses, and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom she held dear.
A compassionate and dedicated professional, Mary Anne earned her nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania and devoted her career to caring for others. She served in various capacities, including as a recovery room nurse, school nurse, and psychiatric nurse. One of her most meaningful roles was as a visiting nurse, where she traveled to rural areas, offering medical care to those with limited access to healthcare. Mary Anne’s deep commitment to helping others extended beyond her nursing career. For many years, she was a devoted Weight Watchers leader, supporting countless individuals in their journey toward healthier living.
Mary Anne and her husband, John, shared a love of square dancing, spending many joyful hours together on the dance floor. As active members of several dance clubs, including the Jacksonville Jacks and Jills, they formed lasting friendships that enriched their lives.
In addition to her love for family and service, Mary Anne was an accomplished artist. She had a remarkable talent for creating beautiful crafts, from China painting to stained glass artwork. Her creations, a reflection of her creativity and attention to detail, are treasured by many and continue to bring beauty to the lives of those who knew her.
A woman of grace, kindness, and strength, Mary Anne’s presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Sunday, January 5 at 2pm with a reception to follow. In honor of her love for vibrant colors, she has requested that guests wear joyful, bright attire.Top of Form
