A service will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022, at 3:00pm, for Mrs. Lilia A. Gomez at the Boren-Conner Funeral
Home in Jacksonville with Father Jay Lucas officiating.
Mrs. Gomez was born on March 19, 1938 in Mexico. She came to the United States with her family as a
young girl, her father having accepted a job opportunity in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She and the love of
her life were eventually reunited, and married in Milwaukee. Eventually, she settled in Chicago with her
husband, Domingo, and children. They resided in Chicago about 50 years, raising 6 children. They moved
to Texas in 2013.
Mrs. Gomez worked in the Chicago Public School System for decades. She was an integral member at
work, where she was a bilingual translator for the staff and students, liaison to the parents of the
student body and assistant to teachers and administrative staff. She was a staple of the neighborhood,
recognized and greeted daily by students and their parents. Mrs. Gomez was loved by neighbors,
friends, and family for her personality and humor. She was respected for her work ethic and ability to
work full time seven days a week while raising six children. She was an amazing cook. She loved music
and would sing and dance while tending to chores.
Mrs. Gomez was preceded in death by her husband, Domingo Gomez; her parents, Maria and Francisco
Trevino, and a sister, Maria Trevino de Reyes. She is survived by her six children and their significants:
son Domingo and Elizabeth Gomez of Rolling Meadows IL, son Francisco Gomez of Jacksonville TX,
daughter Blanca and Paul Segura of Chicago IL, daughter Gloria and Ivan Torres of Chicago IL, daughter
Maria and Joseph Augustine of Lake in the Hills IL, and daughter Sonia Gomez and Clayton Stoker of
Troup TX; 16 beautiful grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
