On Sunday, July 21, 2024, Peter D. Miller, Jr., went to be with his Lord in Heaven. He was a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, born to Peter D Miller, Sr. and Bertha Juanita Young Theriot on November 14, 1946. Pete married his “soulmate” Connie Mobley Rohrer in 1997 and they made their home in Sulphur until moving to Tyler, Texas.
Pete began his employment working at Black Angus Restaurant in Lake Charles, where his mother, “Ms. Nita” was Hostess. Later, he worked at PPG Industries, Inc. for more than 35 years, prior to retiring. In his spare time, Pete distributed all manner of fishing gear to stores thru his Swamp Buster’s Fishing Tackle company. Pete and Connie enjoyed their first date fishing, and that continued being a passion of both. Pete loved music, especially country music, and so taught guitar lessons to children of friends and coworkers. He was proud and honored to participate in the music ministries of Celebration Worship Center, Carlyss and First Baptist Church, Sulphur. Other interests included sharing his love of Cajun cooking with family and friends at home and camps at Toledo Bend Lake – “mmm” - the more to cook for, the better he loved it! Pete also loved being a surrogate grandfather to the neighborhood children - with them coming over for popsicles, running through the house and falling asleep in his lap. Pete never met a stranger or forgot their name!
Pete was proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Connie. Other survivors include his sisters Ramona Ramirez and Gwen Porche of Louisiana; his daughters Cynthia Miller of Georgia and Angela Borel of Louisiana; daughter-in-love Wendy Rohrer and son-in-love William Rohrer (Holly) of Texas; grandchildren Bradly Borel and Brandon Borel; Maddie Varga; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Louisiana - date to be announced.
“In HIM was life and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1: 4-5.
