Funeral Services for Richard Jerome Whitaker are scheduled to be held on April 6th 2023,
to begin at 11:00AM, at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A visitation will
be held on the evening of April 5th at the Funeral Home from 6:00PM – 8:00PM
Richard Jerome Whitaker was born September 2, 1968 in Jacksonville, Texas to Melvin
Louis and Sue Williams Whitaker.
Richard attended public schools in Jacksonville, Texas graduating from Jacksonville
High School in 1986. He later enlisted in the US Air Force serving from 1989-2000.
Richard married his childhood sweetheart, Kimberly Garrett and they reared three
children together: Richetta, NaQuan and Melik.
Richard was a Certified Physical Fitness Specialist, receiving his Certification from the
Cooper Institute of Dallas. He owned and operated his personal fitness business for
several years. He enjoyed body building and competed in several body building
competitions.
On Tuesday, March 28, 2023 Richard shed his earthly bonds and transitioned to be with
our Heavenly Father. He is preceded in death by a sister, Daphne Michelle Whitaker.
Richard leaves to cherish his memories: Fiancée Lilllian Legion, mother; Sue Whitaker,
father and step-mother: Melvin Louis & Elizabeth Whitaker; daughter-Richetta (Marcus)
Reynolds, Houston; sons-NaQuan & Melik Whitaker (both of Denton); grandchildren:
Meiko & Parker Reynolds, Houston; sister-Toi (Joe) Selman, Dallas and a host of other
relatives and friends.
