A celebration of life service for Sandra Kay Whitesides Laney, 68, of Troup will be held 11 A.M. Saturday September 22, 2018 at Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church in Troup, Tx. With Nathan Briggs as the eulogist. Mrs. Whitesides Laney passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday September 12, 2018 at CTMFH - Tyler. She was born February 15,1950 in Tyler. She was a life long resident of Troup. Mrs. Whitesides Laney spent a life time of service and dedication as a law enforcement officer, retiring from Smith County Sheriff's department. In addition to working with the Sheriff's dept., she was a fixture at Troup High School football games for over 20 yearsShe was a devoted mother, grandmother, & an avid animal lover. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Jay Laney, and her parents Willie and Gladys Whitesides of Troup. Survivors include daughter D-Ann Black, granddaughter Madison Whitton of Troup. Also, sister Genie Pryor, Uncle Marshal Whitesides of Houston, Aunt Patsy Divers of Arp, & Uncle Vaughn Whitesides of Florida; and numerous extended family members & friends. Flowers can be delivered to Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church in Troup on Friday 9-21-18, between 12:00 to 5:00 pm. Or memorials can be made to Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church.
