Susan Marie Clarke Stanley

Susan was born on February 23, 1951, to Robert and Marjorie Clarke in Cushing,  Oklahoma. Susan left her earthly home on November 14, 2022 after a long battle  with complications stemming from her miraculous survival of stage 4 cancer.  Susan was born the 2nd of 5 siblings. Her family moved to Tulsa, Houston, and  Odessa before settling in Tyler for her junior year of high school. She graduated  from Robert E. Lee in 1969, Tyler Junior College in 1971, and Stephen F. Austin in  the spring of 1973 where she majored in home economics. She was as beautiful  as she was sassy. Susan worked as a professional sanitarian at Tyler-Smith County  Health Department inspecting food establishments. In 1976 she met a one-of-a kind cowboy and love of her life, Dave Stanley. Susan and Dave were married on  September 9, 1978, at Highland Presbyterian. They moved to Lorena, Tx where  they raised their first two boys on Big Red and peanuts before moving back to  Tyler. There they had their only daughter and 3rd son. She spent most of her life  wrangling their four children to numerous sporting events and activities, always  making sure each of them had their hearts’ desire. She loved family trips to  Galveston and Roaring River and stopping at the Casino along the way. You could  always find her in the kitchen waiting for her kids to call and ask, “what's for  dinner?”. Her cooking and desserts were unmatched. Together was her favorite  place to be. Susan was a 14-year, stage 4 cancer survivor and her doctor named  her the “miracle patient”. She taught us many things but mostly she taught us  how to put your life in the Lord’s hands and how to love one another. Susan was  preceded in death by her parents Robert and Marjorie Clarke. She is survived by  her husband Dave Stanley of 44 years, her daughter Megan Garrett, and her 3  sons and their wives, Cameron Stanley and wife Amy, Jonathan Stanley and wife  Jana, and Austin Stanley and wife Megan. The greatest joy of her life was being  called Boo Boo by her 4 grandkids Kaleb, Tatum, Sadie, and Allie. In addition, she  is survived by her siblings Carole Clarke, Randy Clarke and wife Mattie, Rick Clarke  and wife Sandy, and Nancy Montemayor and husband Freddie, along with several  special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 19th, at 1 p.m. at J-C Cowboy  Church 9530 FM 855W Bullard, TX 75757.

Flowers can be received at J-C Cowboy Church on Friday November 18th 2-4 p.m.  or at the time of the service.
