William T. Cox “Bill” was born November 1, 1937 in Longview, Texas to Wanda Ogden and Lloyd Cox and entered into eternal life October 15, 2020. He was 82 years old.
A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Jarrett Cemetery in Jacksonville with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Rev. Lester Foreman will officiate.
William served as Chief Engineman in the United States Navy for 21 years. He was awarded several honors including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal w/Combat “V” Navy Unit, Good Conduct Fourth Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and The Presidential Unit Citation for Extraordinary Heroism to the United States Navy Element of the Mobile Riverine Force.
After retiring from the Navy, he worked for Plantation Bakery in Chicago, Illinois for 19 years as a mechanical engineer.
Left to cherish his memory are the Love of his life and wife of 29 ½ years, Sherri Cox of Jacksonville; his Ray of Sunshine, Sassy Lynn Cox; sons, James Cox and William Cox Jr.; daughters, Nancy Blankenship and Paula Brown. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchidren, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Cox, Robbie Hunt, Lane Batton, Dan Bollinger, Mike Bollinger, and Chris Bollinger.
